- Personal Biography
Ilana Silverstein grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she attended a public high school. She spent her high school years exploring different issues including sex education, gay rights, and immigration. She is currently attending Brandeis University and is working on a double major in Sociology and Health: Science, Society, and Policy. She became actively involved in the Student Peace Alliance during her first semester and is currently co-coordinator. After being on her high school crew team for six years, she decided to try a different sport and joined the Women's Ultimate Frisbee team. During her second year, she found her niche as a counselor and co-coordinator of the Student Sexuality Information Service. Ilana plans to use the organizing skills and counseling skills she has gained from her activities in a future career in either a sexual health field, an immigrant advocacy center, or some combination of both.
